Journalist

Neil Foote was inducted into the 2021 National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame. The NABJ recognized Foote for his longtime service to NABJ, the industry and education.  He’s been a member since 1981,  served as a chapter president in Miami and Washington, D.C. and later became a regional director on the national board. Along with Duchesne Drew, he co-directed the NABJ Executive Suite, a leadership workshop for mid-career executives.

 

Foote has a distinguished career as a journalist at The Miami Herald  and the Washington Post. At the Dallas Morning News and later at its parent company, A.H. Belo Corporation, played a key role in the company’s digital media strategy for its newspapers and television stations.

 

Outside of NABJ, Foote has:

  • Chaired the National Association of Minority Media Executives, where he won the Catalyst Award in New Media; joins Wynona Redmond, Deborah Hyman and Richelle Payne on the Council of Presidents of the National Black Public Relations Society
  • Serves on the executive committee of the Commission on Public Relations Education as treasurer
